You’ll L-O-V-E Episode 4: Money

This episode was better than last week, and I loved last week!
The episode starts with Kath planning her big wedding. Kath and Kim go to a bridal store and find the worst looking wedding dress in which they of course LOVE. The dress consists of a bonnet, and a basket. PUKE! Once Kath tries to plan her wedding around “the dress” she realizes that big weddings cost a lot of money.

The episode goes on with Kim finding out that Craig’s dog can be a cash cow if they breed him…in Kim’s eyes: money equals getting back together with Craig. But, when the dog accidentally gets knocked up, all her dreams are shattered.

The episode ends with Phil getting Kath her Pumpkin carriage (that she wanted for the wedding) and all ends well!

I loved this episode so much! I’m so glad the show got picked up for the full season. More importantly, I’m glad I gave it a chance, it’s really grown on me!

Review of Episode 3: Old

Kath and Kim start the episode off by going wedding shopping, but then Kath is later let down after she hears Phil call her old.  Meanwhile Kim is goes nuts thinking Craig is cheating on her.

The episode progresses with Kath & Kim clubbing so Kath can feel young again, and once she gets hit on, she starts feeling better about herself.  Phil finds Kath clubbing and rescues her after her cell phone butt-dialed Phil from the club…and all is good at the end of the day.

Oh wait, I almost forgot, check out Kath’s Dance at the end of the episode, it’s priceless.

I loved this episode.  I’ve been waiting for this show to get good, and it finally did!  I thought the episode was funny, sweet and the characters had depth (or what is there at least).

Recap of Ep. 2: Respect

In this episode Kath Day desperately wants to be known as a real hair stylist, so Phil sets her up to get a booth at the mall Prom show, Promenade. Meanwhile, Kim gets Craig fired from his job and gets kicked out of the mall while she’s at it.

By the end of the episode Kath whips Kim’s hair into the infamous “flying wedge” at the Promenade show and she’s a hero.

This episode was much better than the pilot, but I still need time to get to know the characters.

Episode 1 Review

Kath agrees to let Kim move back in after she separates from her husband, Craig.  Meanwhile Kim is finding out shortly that her mom has her own life when she finds out she’s engaged.

For the pilot episode it wasn’t bad…and it could only go up from here.  I think US series has a tough act to follow with the Australian series. I do have hopes for this show as Molly Shannon and Selma Blair are brilliant actors, and have great chemistry.  The show has a lot to live up to, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I give it 3 out of 5 stars

Kath & Kim Preview

While I was at the NBC Universal Press Tour I sat in on the Kath & Kim press session and I really can’t wait for the show. I think that critics are over thinking the show and are being too harsh. Selma Blair, Molly Shannon, John Michael Higgins and Mikey Day were hysterical and are celebrating their new show (as they should be). One question that made me laugh out loud at was when a reporter asked Selma, “how many wigs do you get?” Selma just responded, I had extensions during the pilot, but could there really be a more boring question? I laughed so hard because it REALLY was such a boring and ridiculous question (in the scheme of where we were)…. then Selma proceeded to talk about how she has a forehead of a monkey and everyone has either the forehead of a rat or a monkey. It was an amazing tangent that really made me laugh, but I’m sure pissed off the reporters taking their jobs too seriously.

The Executive Producer, Michelle Nader, said they’re doing a lot of re-shoots and are currently in the middle of production with the blessings of Jane and Gina (the original Kath & Kim as they have some input on the U.S. series). The panel ended with Selma saying, “Someone called me and asked me why I don’t love Australia… I don’t know why they said that because I LOVE AUSTRALIA.” Then everyone responded with, “we love Australia.” So there you have it. The new cast loves Australia, and they love the original Kath & Kim… now all they have to do is make it funny which I’m sure they will.  I can’t wait!
